Three Cardinals recognized by the CAC
WASHINGTON --- Matt Hilleary, Carol Schnepp, and Jim Horstmann were
honored by the Capital Athletic Conference in the weekly Player of
the Week awards for the week of January 20-26.
Senior Matt Hilleary (Manassas, Va./Seton School)
was named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player
of the Week. Hilleary, right, led the Cardinals to a pair of CAC
victories last week. In Wednesday's win over St. Mary's, the center
notched a team-high 18 points and added 10 rebounds for his second
double-double of the year. He aslo contributed four blocks and two
assists in the win. Against Goucher on Saturday, Hilleary scored 20
points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out three asssits, and
blocked two shots. For the season, Hilleary leads the team in
scoring (16.4 ppg) and leads the CAC in blocked shots with 36.
Senior Carol Schnepp (Maple Glen, Pa./Bishop
McDevitt), right, was named to the CAC Women's Basketball Honorable
Mention List as the forward netted a season-high 20 points against
St. Mary's and added three rebounds and a steal. She then scored a
team-high 16 points and chipped in four boards in the home win over
Goucher. Schnepp leads the team in scoring (13.6 ppg). She has
double-figure scoring in 12 games this season.
Sophomore Jim Horstmann (Springfield, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) was named the CAC Men's Swimmer of the Week. Horstmann led the Cardinals to a 102-98 win over Marymount with a pair of first-place finishes in the 200 IM and 100 Free as the Cardinals ended the dual meet season with a record of 7-2. He has won two or more events in CUA's last three meets.
