WASHINGTON - Freshman Anne Maguire (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Holy Cross) scored 17 points and senior Carol Schnepp (Maple Glen, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) added 15 as Catholic cruised to an 87-30 non-conference win over Villa Julie Monday night.
Maguire was 5-for-8 from the floor including 4-for-6 from 3-point land and added three steals in just 16 minutes off the bench to lead the Cardinals. Schnepp was 7-of-10 and added four rebounds to the mix.
The Cardinals scored the first 18 points of the game as the Mustangs had trouble finding their shooting touch. Maguire's three-pointer with just under 11 minutes in the first half gave CUA an 18-0 lead.
Freshman Gloria Schnepp's (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) layup with 27 seconds in the half gave the Cardinals a 45-7 lead at the break. Carol's sister finished with nine points and six rebounds.
It was more of the same in the second half as Catholic raised their lead to as much as 59 points.
The Mustangs (0-4) shot just 12-of-47 for the game including a dismal 3-of-23 performance in the first half. Alicia Barnard led Villa Julie with 17 points and added seven rebounds.
For the game, Catholic connected on 37-of-85 from the floor including 6-of-20 from beyond the arc.
The Cardinals (2-1) return to action on Wednesday, December 4th as they host Salisbury University in a Capital Athletic Conference matchup at 6 p.m.
