Women's Basketball Falls to Mt. St. Mary's by five, 69-64

ARLINGTON, VA-- Brianna Peterson led CUA with 25 points, but the Cardinals fell to Mt. St. Mary's 69-64, and will look to get back to their winning ways tomorrow against King's College at 11 a.m.
Aftering taking a 20-14 lead with 6:30 left in the first half, CUA saw its lead dwindle before Jenn Canale made two free throws in the closing minutes of the half and gave CUA a small 22-20 edge at the break.
The second half started out with Mt. St. Mary's tying the game within the first 20 seconds and then take the lead only 31 seconds into the half. CUA and Mt. St. Mary's tied one more time before exchanging a single-point lead. Mt. St. Mary's then scored back-to-back buckets to spawn a 10-2 run.
CUA fell behind in the second half and found themselves down 19 with only 1:02 left on the clock. In the final 61 seconds CUA went on a 17-3 run and seemingly had control of the game, but the clock ran out before CUA could regain the lead. During those final seconds CUA only relied on three fouls and shot 5-6 from the field including only two 3-point attempts (one successful).
CUA will return to action Saturday, November 22, at 11 a.m. against King's College.
