Juniata Rallies Past CUA
HUNTINGDON, Pa.- Juniata College shot an impressive 52% from the field in the second half to lead the Eagles to a 67-52 win over Catholic University in a Landmark Conference women's basketball matchup on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, CUA drops to 3-4 in the Landmark Conference, 10-8 on the year.
Both teams struggled to find any offensive rhythm in the first half, and the game was tied at just 13-13 at the 7:45 mark of the opening stanza. A jumper by Kate Robinson (Emmitsburg, Md./Catoctin High School) tied the game at 9-9 with 10 minutes to play. Juniata ended the frame with a 12-4 run, however, and went into the locker room with a 29-19 lead at the break.
Juniata scored six points in the opening minutes of the second half that went unanswered by the Cardinals. The Eagles then went on a 16-7 run and lead by as much as 20. A jumpshot by Brianna Peterson (Garnerville, N.Y./North Rockland) cut the lead to 13 with two and a half minutes to play, but two consecutive turnovers proved to be CUA's downfall as they dropped the game 67-52.
