Women's Basketball Downs Richard Stockton, 75-63

WASHINGTON-- Led by Brianna Peterson (Garnerville, N.Y./North Rockland), who recorded a double-double (25 points,13 rebounds), the Cardinals handed Richard Stockton College a 75-63 loss on their home court Saturday evening.
In the first half, CUA broke out to a seven point lead with 14:02 on the clock, but saw that lead dissipate over the next two minutes. The Ospreys took a one-point advantage with 12:10 on the clock.
With 9:37 left in the first half, Lauren McPeak (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) connected with fellow sophomore Jenn Canale (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Albertus Magnus), who hit a layup to give CUA a one-point edge. Despite leading by as much as 10 with six minutes to go, the Cardinals hit the locker room leading by three.
In the second half, CUA shot 17 of 32 (53.1%) from the field, and extended their lead to as many as 18 with 11:32 remaining. Despite a late offensive surge from the Osprey's, the Cards remained poised and went on an 8-0 run to end the contest.
In addition to Peterson's 25 points, two other Cardinals marked double digits. Freshman Brielle Crites (Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) added a career high of 15 points while pulling down four rebounds. Canale added an energetic spark to CUA's frontcourt with 10 points of her own. Kerri Confrey (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) led the Cardinal offense with an impressive 11 assists to go with her 7 points.
The Cardinals will return to action Friday, January 9, 2009 to battle conference foe Drew University at 5:30 p.m.
