No. 6 Scranton Tops CUA in Women’s Basketball,

SCRANTON, Pa. -- Megan Kopecki’s 29
points and Jennifer King’s 23 – both career highs
– powered the sixth-ranked University of Scranton
women’s basketball team to an 83-52 victory over Catholic
University in Landmark Conference action at Long Center on Friday
night.
Kopecki made 10 of 15 shots, including all five of her 3-pointers,
for the Lady Royals, who won their ninth straight and improved to
14-2 (5-1 Landmark). She added six assists, four rebounds and six
steals.
King was 8 of 15 from the field and 5 of 10 from 3-point range.
Taylor Pallotta had seven points and nine rebounds.
Jenny McGann led CUA (12-5, 4-2 Landmark) with nine points and
Brianna Peterson had eight. Katarina Owunna grabbed a team-high
nine rebounds and scored six points. Jill Woerner tallied seven
points and three blocks.
Scranton, which led the entire game, jumped to a 19-5 lead. The
Cardinals responded with a 7-0 run to trim the Royals’
advantage to 19-12. A 17-2 blitz by Scranton propelled it to a
44-23 lead at halftime.
CUA plays at Moravian on Saturday at 2 p.m.
