Despite Two Cards in Double Figures, CUA falls to
WASHINGTON-- Brianna Peterson scored 17 points and Jill Woerner added 14 for the Cardinals (12-11, 4-8 LC) but CUA fell to Scranton (21-3, 12-1 LC) in Landmark Conference action, 75-46 on Tuesday evening.
Four Royals finished in double figures for Scranton, led by Courtney Roselle with 17 points. Roselle shot 7-of-8 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line while adding eight boards.
The Cardinals opened the game, leading by as many as five in the first half, with offensive firepower and energy on the boards. After 20 minutes of play, CUA found itself down only one point to a nationally ranked team and dominating its opponents both on the boards and in field goal percentage.
After the break the game quickly got away from the Cards, as Scranton gained a nine-point lead in the first five minutes of play, and extended that lead to 21 with 10:18 remaining.
CUA shot only 18.5% from the field in the second half after shooting 42.3% in the first. The Cardinals turned the ball over 30 times in the contest with the Royals converting those giveaways into 31 points.
The Cardinals will return to action against Moravian as CUA will "Blackout" the DuFour Center for Senior Night. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
