Two more road games up next for Cardinals

WASHINGTON - CUA remains on the road this weekend as the Cardinals look to build upon their recent success with games at Merchant Marine Academy and Drew.  CUA split a pair of Landmark Conference games last weekend, and then downed Division II Washington Adventist 70-37 on Tuesday evening, to give the Cardinals ten wins for the season.

CUA enters this weekend leading the Landmark Conference in scoring at 70.6 points per game and the Cardinals have scored at least 70 points in seven contests this season.

CUA's bench has done a nice job of late, averaging 24.2 points per game in the last five.  In Tuesday's win at Washington Adventist, the Cardinals non-starters outscored their counterparts 34-8.

With a per-game average of 14.4, CUA currently leads the Landmark Conference and ranks 26th nationally in steals.  The Cardinals have committed double-digit thefts in every game this season, but one, topping out with 23 in a win at Washington College.

CUA's first opponent this weekend, Merchant Marine Academy, is looking for its first conference victory of the season after the Mariners fell at Moravian and Scranton last weekend.  Merchant Marine Academy is 5-7 this season, which includes a win over Berkeley College on Tuesday.  Rebecca Grimes leads the Mariners in scoring at 13.7 points per game, while Janay Weathers is pulling down a team-high 8.3 rebounds per contest.

The Drew Rangers are off to a 7-5 start this season, which includes a 1-2 record in Landmark Conference play.  Drew fell to Scranton and Moravian on the road last weekend, but did defeat Merchant Marine Academy in its conference opener on December 4.  The Rangers had trouble scoring last weekend, with only 36 points at Scranton and 47 at Moravian.  Danielle Barber (16.4) and Dana Coronato (11.9) lead Drew in scoring.
