D3hoops.com names Woerner to All-Middle Atlantic Team
WASHINGTON – Sophomore Jill Woerner was named a third team
All-Middle Atlantic Region selection by D3hoops.com on
Tuesday. Woerner displayed her versatility all season long
for the Cardinals, ranking in the top-ten in the Landmark
Conference in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, steals
and blocks.
Woerner was CUA’s top scorer (16.4) and rebounder (7.3) this
season, scoring in double figures in every game but two, including
a career-high 28 vs. Stevenson in mid-December. Woerner also
registered double digit rebounds in six games with a high of 14
coming on two occasions.
Woerner shot 46 percent from the field for the season, including
13 games in which she hit at least half of her attempts. She
knocked down a season best 70 percent in the season opener vs.
Eastern Mennonite en route to 18 points.
In addition to her scoring and rebounding prowess, Woerner totaled
73 steals (2.6 per game) and 43 blocked shots (1.5 per game).
The Providence, R.I. native notched at least two steals in 20 games
with a high of six coming in two games. Woerner’s
season-high in blocks was six which came vs. Susquehanna in late
January.
A two time Landmark Conference Player of the Week, Woerner earned
a spot on the All-Conference First Team after being named the
Rookie of the Year last season.
Following two seasons at CUA Woerner has totaled 708 points and
368 rebounds.
