Woerner named Landmark Conference Player of the Week

WASHINGTON – Sophomore Jill Woerner was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week on Monday following a weekend in which she averaged 16 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4 steals in two games for CUA.  The native of Providence was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Terry Greene Memorial.

Woerner began her 2010-11 season with an impressive 18-point, 11-rebound performance in CUA's 81-77 victory over Eastern Mennonite on Friday, November 19.  Woerner sank 7 of 10 shots and added two blocks and a pair of steals for the Cardinals.

The 5-11 guard then totaled 14 points, six boards and six steals in CUA's contest vs. Elizabethtown on Saturday.  Woerner played 29 minutes in the game, and she finished the opening weekend shooting 54-percent from the floor (13-24).

This is Woerner's second career Player of the Week honor.

Woerner and the Cardinals return to action on Tuesday, November 23 when CUA opens its home schedule vs. Keystone College inside DuFour Gymnasium.  Tip-off is set for 5:30.
