Woerner receives second Player of the Week award
WASHINGTON – Sophomore Jill Woerner was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week on Monday, marking the second time this season she has earned the award. Woerner scored a game-high 28 points in CUA's 66-47 victory over Stevenson on Saturday in what was the Cardinals' fifth straight victory.
Woerner had a terrific all-around performance vs. the Mustangs as she sank 11 of 16 shots, including her first seven attempts, en route to 28 tallies. She also recorded seven rebounds, four steals, two blocks and a pair of assists.
For the season, Woerner is leading CUA in scoring (16.3) and rebounding (8.4), while shooting 49 percent from the field. She has started all seven games for the Cardinals and is averaging 27 minutes per contest.
Woerner and the Cardinals (6-1) are currently in Florida where they will play a pair of games beginning on Monday evening vs. Wentworth. Tip-off from Daytona is slated for 5:00.
