Mary Hagaman enters her first year as a member of the women’s basketball coaching staff at CUA. Mary is no stranger to the Lady Cardinals. A 2013 graduate of Catholic University, Mary was a tremendous leader and mentor during her playing days. “I am excited by the dynamic that Mary will bring to our program. One conversation with her and you instantly learn that she possesses a strong basketball knowledge and high basketball IQ. Of course one conversation with Mary will also reveal that she has a tremendous sense of team unity and togetherness as well,” comments Head Coach Matt Donohue
During Hagaman’s four years with the program, CUA set a new school record for single season wins with 27, posted back to back Landmark Conference Championships, and was a perennial force in the Landmark Conference, Atlantic Region, and nationwide. As a player, Hagaman helped lead the Lady Cards to a four year record of 80 – 29, three consecutive national tournaments, and a WBCA Academic Top 25 ranking. As a senior, Hagaman was part of a CUA program that finished the year ranked #11 in the country in the WBCA-USA Today Top 25 Poll.
Hagaman will assist in many aspects of the program including player development, practice and game planning, community involvement, and team building. Hagaman also works as a teacher at the Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School in Washington DC, a role she has flourished in for the past two years. She will continue teaching while also coaching at CUA and currently resides in Washington DC.
