Women's Lacrosse Sweeps Weekly Landmark Awards
Robinson earns second honor in a row

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse squad capped off its big week by winning both of the Landmark Conference weekly awards.  After defeating #14 Mary Washington and winning their first conference game of the season, Kate Robinson (Emmitsburg, Md./Catoctin) and Melissa Brashear (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic ) earned offensive and defensive player of the week honors.

For Robinson this marks her second-consec­utive weekly honor as she provided an offensive punch in the pair of wins. She scored seven goals and added an assist as the Cardinals defeated Susquehanna in their Landmark opener. She also scored five goals and had an assist as CUA knocked off 14th-ranked Mary Washington. Along with the 12 goals and two assists she had 10 draw controls and four ground balls over the two games.  She is currently leading the conference in points and goals while ranking second in assists on the season.  

This is Brashear's first Defensive Player of the Week award as the goalkeeper played two stellar games In the team's Susquehanna game she recorded four saves. Earlier in the week she made 11 saves on 23 shots as the Cardinals knocked off 14th-ranked Mary Washington. Brashear stopped the second leading scorer in the nation in the game.  She gave up nine goals per game over the two contests.

The Cardinals are currently 8-4 on the season and sit atop the conference standings with a 1-0 record.  CUA will host Goucher on Wednesday in another Landmark Conference game at Cardinal Stadium.  The contest is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
