#19 Cardinals Move Into the National Poll
CUA received votes for the past two seasons

4/8/2008

WASHINGTON - In just her second year at the helm, Catholic University Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Meghan O'Connor McDonogh has moved the program into the national spotlight.  On Tuesday the Cardinals were awarded the #19 ranking in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association/Under Armour national poll.  They were also selected #16 in the insidelacrosse.com poll.  The Cards received votes much of last season and every week except one so far this year.

The Cardinals are currently 8-4 on the season and sitting atop the Landmark Conference at 1-0.  Three of their four losses have come against other ranked squads and the Cards have defeated both #16 Mary Washington and #14 Dickinson.  Last week, CUA handily defeated Mary Washington 13-8 and capped it off with a 19-10 victory over Susquehanna in the first conference game of the season.  Midfielder Kate Robinson and goalkeeper Melissa Brashear were awarded Landmark Conference offensive and defensive player of the week honors for their efforts.

The Cardinals will host Goucher on Wednesday at 4 p.m., in a Landmark Conference contest.  The game will be played at Cardinal Stadium.
