Ajdari named Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week
WASHINGTON – Yasmeen Ajdari was named the Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after helping the Cardinals pick up a key conference win over the weekend. Ajdari is the fourth different Cardinal to win a weekly award from the conference this spring.
Ajdari played the entire second half of CUA's game vs. No. 4 Gettysburg on April 11, sending back seven shots and allowing only three goals during that time. The sophomore finished with a 70% save percentage vs. the defending National Champions.
Three days later, Ajdari played all 60 minutes in a 13-9 CUA win at previously unbeaten Susquehanna. Ajdari stopped a season-high nine shots on the day, finishing with a 50% save percentage in the process, which gave her a 57.1% save percentage for the week. It was also Ajdari's first win of the season.
For the season, Ajdari has played over 260 minutes in eight games, having started four of them. She has recorded 32 saves during that time, including three games with at least five.
Ajdari and the Cardinals play twice this week, beginning with a trip to McDaniel on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. contest. On Saturday, CUA will host Elizabethtown inside Cardinal Stadium beginning at 3. Prior to the game, CUA will honor its senior class.
