Swarthout named Landmark Conference Player of the Week

WASHINGTON – Mary Swarthout has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday.  The senior scored eight goals and totaled 14 draw controls, five ground balls and three caused turnovers in a pair of games for CUA last week.

Swarthout found the back of the net six times in CUA’s loss to No. 6 Salisbury on March 3.  Swarthout also won nine draw controls, and three of her goals came on free position shots.

Earlier in the week, Swarthout netted a pair of goals and dished out an assist, to go along with five draw controls and three caused turnovers in the Cardinals season opener vs. No. 18 Mary Washington.

Swarthout currently leads CUA in goals, points, draw controls, and caused turnovers.

Swarthout and the Cardinals play twice this week, with both games taking place on Tuesday in South Carolina.  CUA will take on SUNY-IT beginning at 10 a.m. and Misericordia at 2 p.m.
