Offense powers CUA to pair of wins in South Carolina
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – CUA won both of its spring break games on Tuesday, racing past SUNYIT 18-0 in the opener and downing Misericordia 26-12 in the second game. Gretchen Wade and Katie Miller scored seven goals each in the two wins, while Meghan Brady added six and Mallory Vogel netted seven.
In the day's first game, CUA had little trouble with SUNYIT, pitching an 18-0 shutout win. Brady led the way offensively with three goals, while Miller, Wade, Vogel, Erin Fowler, and Tori Neill all scored twice.
Meghan Murray, Mary Robinson and Miller led the team with two ground balls and Miller's five draw controls were tops.
Gabby Sena and Yasmeen Ajdari split time in goal, with Ajdari turning back three shots.
In game number-two, CUA's offense was again in top-gear, scoring a season-high 26 goals. Wade and Miller both found the back of the net five times, while Vogel, Brady, Robinson and Fowler each recorded hat tricks.
Theresa Ciletti with two goals, and Caroline DiBartolomeo and Neill with one completed the CUA scoring. Caroline Scalamandre led the way with nine draw controls and Miller finished with seven.
CUA is back in action on Saturday, March 17 when the Cardinals hit the road to face Washington & Lee. The opening draw control is set for 1 p.m.
