Landmark Conference names Brophy Off. Player of the Week

WASHINGTON – Sophomore Lindsay Brophy was named the Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, after helping lead CUA to a 2-1 record last week. Brophy scored nine goals and handed out four assists in the Cardinals three contests.

In addition to her scoring prowess, Brophy also won 12 draw controls and scooped up 12 ground balls.

Brophy began her week with four goals, two assists, seven draw controls and six ground balls in a 15-14 overtime win against Babson on March 18. She scored the game-tying goal in OT to help set CUA up for the win.

On Wednesday, Brophy scored once, handed out an assist, and scooped up three ground balls as CUA took on the nation’s No. 1 ranked team, Trinity.

Brophy then closed her week out with four goals, an assist, five draw controls and three ground balls in an 11-9 victory against Washington and Lee on Saturday.

For the season, Brophy leads the Cardinals in goals (20), assists (8), points (28), ground balls (25) and draw controls (25).

Brophy and No. 18 CUA return to action on Tuesday afternoon when the Cardinals travel to face Mary Washington. Start time is set for 4 p.m.
