Cardinals ranked 12th in this week's IWLCA poll
WASHINGTON – The IWLCA released its latest national poll
on Tuesday, and CUA is ranked 12th. The Cards went 1-1 during their
opening week of the season, downing Frostburg State before falling
to No. 2 Salisbury.
CUA began its season on February 26 with a 15-7 victory over
Frostburg State in cold and rainy conditions. Lindsay Brophy and
Caroline DiBartolomeo combined for nine goals on the night, while
CUA broke open a tight game by outscoring the Bobcats 11-4 after
halftime.
Four days later, the Cardinals faced a tough test in the No. 2 Sea
Gulls. The early portion of the contest featured plenty of
back-and-forth, but Salisbury used a 7-0 run late in the 1st half
to open up a comfortable lead. The Cards were unable to come
back.
On Monday, DiBartolomeo was
named the Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
CUA is currently in South Carolina, taking part in a Habitat for
Humanity project. The Cardinals return to action on Wednesday,
March 13 when they travel to Pennsylvania to face No. 11 York.
Start time is set for 4 p.m.
