WASHINGTON - The Catholic University women's lacrosse team earned an NCAA tournament bid and will travel to Lancaster, Pa. to take on Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, May 10 at 4:00 p.m.
Catholic enters the tournament with a 12-5 record after having earned the Landmark Championship on Saturday. The Cardinals were most recently ranked seventh in the NCAA Regional Rankings released Apr. 30.
This marks the sixth NCAA Tournament appearance for the Cardinals under eighth year head coach Meghan McDonogh. The Cardinals took home the program's sixth Landmark Conference Championship with a 20-9 win over Susquehanna, who also received an at-large bid to the Tournament.
Franklin & Marshall is 15-5 and currently ranked No. 7 nationally by the IWLCA. The Diplomats received an at-large bid to the tournament after dropping a 9-5 decision in the Centennial Conference final to No. 6 Gettysburg. The Diplomats are making their 16th NCAA Tournament appearance, and eighth in the last nine years.
Both teams received a First Round bye and will meet in the Second Round on Saturday which will be the first ever meeting between the two progams.
