WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse head coach Meghan McDonogh has announced the addition of Laura Dunn to the Cardinals' coaching staff for the 2017-18 season as the team's graduate assistant coach.
Dunn, who graduated this season, helped Catholic to one of its greatest four-year stretches in program history with four Landmark Conference Championships, two NCAA Regional Finals, a NCAA Regional Semifinal and a NCAA Second Round appearance.
"Anytime you can bring an alum back on the sidelines, it is special, especially someone like Laura that was such a tremendous student-athlete, leader and representative of our team," said McDonogh. "From the time we began recruiting Laura we knew she would be a great asset to the women's lacrosse program and I could not be happier to have her continue to do so from the sidelines."
Dunn was Catholic's 16th All-America selection since 2000 and is the first attack in program history to garner national top-team honors. The Fairfax, Va., native earned her second straight all-region selection in addition to making the Landmark Conference First team for the second-consecutive season in 2017. She was selected as the 2017 Landmark Conference Tournament MVP.
"I am very excited to accept the graduate assistant coaching position at Catholic. This is such a unique opportunity to work toward my degree and remain close to my lacrosse team while helping the climb as one of the top programs in the country," said Dunn. "I look forward to coaching the student-athletes I called teammates just a few months ago and remaining a part of the Catholic lacrosse program for two more years."
While Dunn was extremely decorated on the field, she was just as active off it. A Dean's List student as well as a Landmark and IWLCA Honor Roll member, she served as Catholic SAAC's Co-President as a senior. She was also active in the community as part of the Brookland Outreach Committee, a Campus Ministry Service Leader, Special Olympics Leader as well as numerous community service projects.
