Women's Lacrosse Wins First Tournament, Ambrosetti MVP

FREDERICK, Md. -- Kristi Ambrosetti (Edgewater, Md./St. Mary's High) scored four goals and assisted on two others to lead the Catholic University women's lacrosse team to a 13-4 victory against Ohio Wesleyan in the championship game of Laxstravaganza at Hood College on Sunday.

The victory represents the first tournament championship for the Cardinals (7-5), who began play in 1998, and ties the school record for wins in a season. CUA advanced to the title game with a 21-1 evisceration of Shenandoah on Saturday.

Ambrosetti was named MVP with five goals, three assists, 11 groundballs and 10 draw controls won in the two games. Sophomore Hanna Bissell (Springhouse, Pa./Mt. Saint Joseph's Academy) spearheaded the defeate of Shenandoah with a career-high 10 points on six goals and four assists, both personal highs.

The Cardinals host Virginia Wesleyan on April 12 at 4:30 p.m.
