WASHINGTON - Catholic trailed 1-0 early but ran off the next 12 goals to defeat Saint Vincent 13-2 in a non-conference matchup at DuFour Field Saturday afternoon. Junior Anna Gateau (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) scored three first-half goals while senior co-captain Ann Lawall (Newtown, Pa./Villa Joseph Maria) tallied three goals and two assists.
Saint Vincent led 1-0 after Hanna Dublick's early tally in the first half. Gateau tied it minutes later with her unassisted score. Freshman Kristen Wisniewski (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) gave CUA the lead for good with her 10th goal of the season just three minutes later.
The Cardinals would lead at the half 6-1, then scored the next seven before Saint Vincent's Nicole O'Connor found the back of the net with just over a minute remaining in the game.
CUA keeper Amanda Lewis (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) posted eight stops while Missy Olds made 19 saves for Saint Vincent.
Catholic returns to action on Tuesday, March 19, with a CAC game at St. Mary's starting at 4 p.m.
