Susquehanna 16, Catholic 8 March 23, 2002

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Senior Ann Lawall (Newtown, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) scored a season-high and game-high five goals, but could not help Catholic end a two-game losing streak as Susquehanna handed CUA a 16-8 loss in a non-conference matchup. The Crusaders outscored the Cardinals 5-0 in the last five minutes of the game.

Lawall opened the scoring 4:34 into the game and teammate Kristen Wisniewski (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) made it 2-0 just 30 seconds later with her first of two goals on the day. Susquehanna would rally on two goals each by Krista O'Brien and Melissa Heberlein to take the lead. O'Brien led Susquehanna with four goals.

Trailing 7-5, CUA hit a scoring drought towards the end of the first half for nearly 11 minutes. Junior Anna Gateau (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) netted an unassisted tally to end the streak and cut the lead to one. The Crusaders would add two late goals to lead 9-6 at the half.

Lawall would account for CUA's two goals in the second half.

Senior goalie Amanda Lewis (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) posted 12 saves.

The Cardinals return to action on Monday with a non-league matchup at Villa Julie at 4 p.m.
