2003 Season Preview  

The Catholic University Women's Lacrosse Team enters its' sixth season with high expectations. Having lost five starting seniors, much will be asked of newcomers and returnees alike. Captains, Colleen Boland and Anna Gateau will be counted to set the tempo for this years team. With their individual talent, enthusiasm for the game and overall desire to win, they are set to be fine role models for the 2003 squad.

Fine performances are also expected from senior defender, Maureen O'Hara, junior defender Molly Coyle and sophomores Kerry Doherty, Ali Jarden, Margy Pohlmann, Christine Thornton, Meggie Willett, and Kristen Wisniewski.

Having graduated four year starting goalie, Amanda Lewis, the team will now look to Sarah McGrath to round out the defensive unit in the goal cage.

With the talent of the newcomers and the experience of the veteran players, the 2003 season looks be one of the most exciting to date. The coaching staff this year will no doubt bring many new and exciting options for the team.

Head Coach, Kristine Manning will be assisted this year by three others. Suzanne Mackay returns for her fourth season with the Cardinals. She has been instrumental with the development of this young program. Her experience and knowledge of the opposition are invaluable. Also joining the staff this year is Jennifer Manning. Jennifer comes to CU with both Division I playing and coaching experience. She will be relied upon greatly to head up the attacking unit. Finally, 2002 graduate, Amanda Lewis will join the coaching staff to offer her expertise as a goalie coach. Having set numerous school records for CUA during her tenure, she will be a tremendous addition to the staff.

Traditional opponents such as Salisbury, Goucher, St. Mary's, and Mary Washington comprise a tough conference schedule. The team will travel to non-conference foes St. Vincent, Frostburg State, and Manhattanville among others. The squad will play twice, against Roanoke and Lynchburg, in Florida on their Spring Break.
