#19 Cardinals Out Run
Robinson scores seven goals for the third consecutive game
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The #19 Catholic University women's lacrosse squad (10-4, 3-0 Landmark) stayed undefeated in the Landmark Conference with an 18-5 victory over the Moravian College Greyhounds (6-5, 0-3 Landmark) Saturday. Sophomore midfielder Kate Robinson (Emmitsburg, Md./Catoctin) had seven goals in the game marking her third contest in a row with lucky seven.
Moravian started it out with a goal less than two minutes into the contest but that would be the Greyhounds' only lead of the game as CUA came back with a trio of scores all coming from Robinson. Moravian finally stopped the onslaught but their relief was short-lived as Robinson and Marcy Cuneo (Haddonfield, N.J./Camden Catholic) combined for three more Cardinal scores. The final MC goal of the half came at 18:07. This made the score 6-3 and sparked a 10-0 CUA run that spanned both halves and lasted over thirty minutes. Four Cardinal goals ended the half 10-3.
Lindsey Davenport (Delran, N.J./Delran) started out the second half strong for CUA with two goals to keep the streak going. Robinson then added her seventh goal of the game followed by scores from Katie Bitonti (North Potomac, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel), Katie Buonpastore (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) and Caitlin O'Neill (Germantown, Md./Holy Child). When Moravian managed to get some offense going with 15 minutes remaining it seemed too late as the Cards held a 12-goal advantage. Caroline Taltavull (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) and Liz Calabro (Watchung, N.J./Immaculata) each scored one making the final 18-5.
Robinson led the Cards with seven goals and an assists for the game, Cuneo also had a solid day with two goals and three assists. Defensively, Jackie Getty (Havertown, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) led CUA with four caused turnovers and goalkeeper Melissa Brashear (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) notched four saves.
The Cardinals will travel to Marymount on Wednesday for a game under the lights at 8 p.m.
