Moravian No Match for Women's Lax
WASHINGTON- The CUA women's lacrosse team hit their offensive stride on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Greyhounds of Moravian College 18-4. The Cards improve to 8-2 on the year, while the Greyhounds drop to 3-4.
Junior Kate Robinson (Emmitsburg, Md./Catoctin) had another outstanding performance in the winning effort, totaling five goals and three assists to go along with two groundballs and two caused turnovers. Katie Buonpastore (Lansdale, Pa./Lansdale Catholic), Kelly Ryan (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur), Caroline Taltavull (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg), and Laura Haring (Mt. Sinai, N.Y./Mt. Sinai) each chipped in two goals for the Red and Black. Buonpastore and Swarthout also contributed five and four assists, respectively, while Swarthout and Katie Miller (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville High) scooped up a team high six groundballs.
Kate Narzikul (Media, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) opened up the scoring for the Cards, finding the back of the net off of a pass from Robinson. Moravian tied things up less than a minute later, but a goal by Robinson sparked a 16-2 run in the first half that the Greyhounds could not overcome.
CUA tallied three more goals in the opening minutes of the second stanza to round out their total score. Moravian connected on two shots in the closing minutes, but it was not enough to close the gap before the final buzzer sounded.
The Cards will look to continue their 7-game winning streak on Wednesday, April 1st as they travel to Mary Washington for a 4 p.m. match-up.
