Women's Lacrosse Makes NCAA Tournament, Will Host Messiah Wednesday

WASHINGTON-- The CUA women's lacrosse team has made the NCAA tournament for the second straight year and will host Messiah College on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the opening round.

Finishing the season 15-3, and winning its second straight Landmark Conference championship, the CUA women's lacrosse team has earned a bid to the 2009 NCAA championship tournament and will face Messiah College (Pa.) in the opening round.

The winner of the CUA v. Messiah match-up will take on the winner of Christopher Newport and Mary Washington. That game will take place at Salisbury. Earlier this season CUA played Mary Washington to a 21-9 victory on the road.

CUA and Messiah did not meet during the regular season, but have two common opponents. CUA defeated McDaniel College 18-13 while Messiah fell to the Green Terror 12-13. Messiah defeated Susquehanna 16-5 while CUA defeated the Landmark Conference rival, 17-2.
