Team Community Awareness Award"

WASHINGTON—The CUA women’s lacrosse team earned the
2009 Team Community Awareness Award from the IWLCA for their
outstanding community service record in 2009.
While most spring sports teams travel to warmer climates to ready
themselves for the upcoming season, the Cardinals traveled to West
St. Tammany, La. (just north of New Orleans, La.) to work on a
Habitat for Humanity build. The team worked on two houses building
the floor and wall frames during the week they were there. The team
also worked with Kids on Campus as well as other local service
projects throughout the 2008-09 school year.
On December 7, 2009 the IWLCA presented the awards to the
recipients during the IWLCA Convention in Newport, R.I. CUA
represented the NCAA Div. III while The University of Cincinnati
and University of New Haven represented Div. I and Div. II,
respectively.
The Cardinals finished the 2009 season with their second
consecutive Landmark Conference title and NCAA regional final
appearance.
The team will begin the 2010 season on March 3, 2010 on the road
at St. Mary’s (Md.). The start is set for 4 p.m.
