Women's Lacrosse Ranked No. 8 in IWLCA Preseason
WASHINGTON-- Despite over two feet of snow on the ground and more on its way today, the CUA women's lacrosse team has its goals in sight already, a regular season championship, a conference championship, a NCAA tournament bid, and beyond.
On Tuesday, February 9, 2010, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) first preseason poll was released. CUA earned the No. 8 ranking, only one point behind the No. 7 ranked Tufts. CUA was ranked by Lacrosse Magazine at No. 7 last month, while senior Kate Robinson was chosen as the Division III Women's Lacrosse Preseason Player of the Year.
While some teams ease into the season, the 2010 CUA women's lacrosse schedule offers no such ease. The Cardinals will play two of their first three games against top three teams. CUA opens the season on March 3, at St. Mary's (Md.) before traveling to No. 2 Salisbury on March 6. The Cards will then travel to San Antonio during spring break and will take on No. 3 Gettysburg while in Texas.
Later in the season the Cardinals will take on No. 12 Williams on March 30, before taking on Mary Washington on April 1, who also received votes in the poll. CUA then continues its strong schedule against No. 19 Washington & Lee on the road.
CUA opens its home schedule at Cardinal Stadium on March 20 against Stevenson at 12 p.m.
