Women's Lacrosse Remains Undefeated in Conference Play
WASHINGTON- The Catholic University women’s lacrosse team (6-6, 2-0) remained undefeated in conference play Saturday afternoon, cruising past Susquehanna University (9-5, 2-1) by a score of 18-3 at Cardinal Stadium.
CUA has defeated every conference opponent by ten or more so far this season, including a 15-4 victory over Drew and a 20-6 win against Goucher.
Catholic began its scoring rampage after Mary Swarthout converted a free position shot thirty seconds into the game. Swarthout’s goal sparked an 11-1 run for the home team, as they fired in shot after shot while holding Susquehanna to just two goals in the first half.
The second half was much of the same for the red-hot Cardinals, as they scored the first four goals of the period. Susquehanna finally managed their third and final goal of the night with 14 minutes to play, but the Cards iced the game by scoring twice more before the final buzzer sounded.
Meg Brady had another outstanding offensive performance, netting four goals and to go along and adding one assist. Brady has accumulated 25 goals and five assists on the year.
Caroline Taltavull and Katie Miller chipped in with a pair of hat tricks, while Kate Narzikul and Katie Buonpastore each added two goals apiece.
Mary Swarthout led the defensive charge with five caused turnovers and five groundballs. Meg Murray also added four CTs and four groundballs in the win. Goaltender Melissa Brashear earned her sixth win of the year by tallying five saves on the night.
CUA will look to continue their winning ways as they travel to Rowan on April 20 for a 6 p.m., contest.
