The Cardinals dominate the Landmark’s Lacrosse Players of the Week
CUA had three student-athletes selected as Landmark Conference Players of the Week.
The Landmark’s Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week for this past week is Catholic’s Chris Fuccillo. Chris is a sophomore from Patchogue, NY and is the leading scorer for the Cardinals so far this season with 34 goals. He started off the week on the right foot when he contributed 3 goals and an assist to the Cardinal’s non-conference win against Shenandoah. He then finished the week with a bang by scoring 4 goals which aided in the 11-7 conference victory for CUA over Susquehanna this past Saturday.
Catholic University is the proud home of both the Offensive and Defensive Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week. A sophomore from Huntington Bay NY, Meghan Brady, was named the Offensive player of the week after contributing immensely to the Cardinals pair of Conference wins over Goucher and Susquehanna. Over the course of two games she scored 11 goals, caused 1 turnover and had 1 assist, 2 ground balls, and 3 draw controls. The Cardinals also had Mary Swarthout, a sophomore from Rockville Md., to lead them towards victory in their games this week. She is a key part of Catholic’s defense which limited their opponents to 9 goals over the course of 2 games. She personally had 10 ground balls and 7 caused turnovers throughout the Cardinal’s games against Goucher and Susquehanna. She also managed to score 5 goals and assist 3 others. These two girls played a key part in securing CUA’s position as undefeated within the Landmark Conference for Women’s Lacrosse.
