Women's Lacrosse Dominates Moravian, 20-2
BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The Catholic University women's lacrosse team used a balanced offensive charge to overcome conference foe Moravian College 20-2 Saturday afternoon. CUA's record improves to 9-6 overall, 4-0 in Landmark Conference play.
The Cardinals out-shot the Greyhounds 45-15 in the match. The squad also picked up 8 more groundballs and managed 14 more draw controls.
CUA delivered an offensive punch in the first half and never relinqueshed the lead. Catholic scored seven times before Moravian got on the board. A goal by Vogel gave the visiting team a 10-2 advantage by halftime.
Catholic notched ten additional goals in the second half, while holding the Greyhounds scoreless for the remainder of the afternoon. Sophomore defender Meg Murray totaled two of the team's six caused turnovers. Melissa Brashear and Gab Sena combined for six saves in the net.
The Cards were led by senior Kate Narzikul, who produced a hat trick and two draw controls in the win. Kelly Ryan, Mallory Vogel, and Katie Miller each chipped in with two apiece, and combined for four groundballs and five draw controls.
Laura Haring, Christina Rogers, Mary Swarthout, Kelly Neligan, Sara Cumming, Christy Sisko, Lindsay Davenport, Amanda Gallugi, Lauren Sheils, and Murray rounded out the scoring for the Cardinals, tallying one goal each.
CUA will complete their regular season schedule at Scranton University on Saturday, May 1. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m.
