Brady, Brashear Earn POW Awards
WASHINGTON- Two members of the CUA women's lacrosse teams nabbed Player of the Week honors for their contributions in a pair of victories against nationally-ranked teams this week. Sophomore Meg Brady had an oustanding week on the offensive end while Melissa Brashear was the backbone of a tenacious Cardinal defense.
Brady scored the game-tying against #14 Williams to help CUA seal the 7-6 victory. She also added three draw controls in the win. Brady then erupted with six goals and one assist against #16 Mary Washington, also adding up six groundballs and two caused turnovers. Brady notched seven goals, dished out one assist, scooped up six groundballs, and had four caused turnovers in the two wins this week.
Brashear had two strong
performances in the two wins over nationally-ranked
opponents. She stopped 13 shots and added a ground ball while only
giving up six goals in a victory Williams. She then managed
eight saves as Catholic knocked off Mary Washington. She
averaged 10 saves and had a 10.50 goals-against average for the
The women's lacrosse team will look to feed off this week's momentum as they head to Washington & Lee on Wednesday, April 7 for a 4:30 p.m., contest.
