Women's Lacrosse to Host First Round of NCAA Tournament

WASHINGTON- The Catholic University of America women's lacrosse team will host Christopher Newport in the first round of the NCAA tournament Wednesday afternoon, the organization announced Sunday. The time is yet to be determined.

Catholic and CNU are familiar foes, last meeting in the opening round of NCAAs two years ago where the Cardinals defeated the Captains 18-7.

Christopher Newport will enter the tournament coming off their fourth conference title in as many years. The Captains currently stand at 13-6 on the year, led by Kaitlin Quigley and Meghan Harkey who have accounted for 128 of the teams' 280 goals.

The Cardinals enter Wednesday's game with an overall record of 12-6, as well as a perfect record in conference play. Mary Swarthout and Meg Brady lead a balanced offensive team where five players have collected 20 or more goals this season. The squad is also dangerous on the defensive end, with over 200 caused turnovers on the year.
