Women's Lax Caps Perfect Season with 20-5 Win Over Scranton
SCRANTON, Pa.- The Catholic University women's lacrosse team earned a 20-5 victory at Scranton University Saturday afternoon, finishing their conference season with a perfect 5-0 record. The Cardinals are 10-6 overall this year, and will look to capture the Landmark Conference crown as the number one seed next week.
CUA notched the first five goals of the afternoon and never relinquished the lead. Sophomore Meg Brady got things going by finding the back of the net off a feed from junior Kelly Ryan. Momenum was on the Cards' side, as Ryan tallied goal number two less than five minutes later. The squad took a comfortable 11-3 lead into the halftime period.
Catholic continued to dominate on both ends of the field in the second stanza, opening up the period with three consecutive goals. CUA outscored the Royals 6-2 from that point on and sealed the 20-5 win with a final goal from junior defender Becky Borrell with 14 seconds left to play.
Brady and Ryan were a dynamic duo in the Cardinal victory, recording four and three goals, respectively. Ryan also added an assist, while Brady managed two caused turnovers.
