Three Cardinals lead South to victory in Senior All-Star Game
WASHINGTON – A trio of CUA lacrosse standouts recently put
the finishing touches on their careers by participating in the 2011
IWLCA Division III Senior All-Star Game, which took place on June
11 in Downingtown, Pa. Kate Robinson, Becky Borrell and Katie
Buonpastore helped to lead the South squad to an impressive 15-4
win over the North.
Buonpastore led the South squad with four points, which came on a
pair of goals and assists, while Robinson assisted on one of the
team’s 15 scores. Borrell helped lead the defense to a
terrific effort, limiting the North squad to just a single goal in
the second half.
Buonpastore scored one of her goals in the early going to give the
South a 2-0 advantage and her second score gave the South a 5-2
lead. She then assisted on the South’s sixth goal and
her and Robinson assisted on the team’s final two scores.
CUA’s three selections to the North-South game were its most
in school history.
Cardinals Head Coach Meghan McDonogh attended the game in
Pennsylvania, along with current team members Mary Robinson and
Mary Swarthout as well as recent graduates Sarah Fitzgerald and
Lindsay Davenport.
