WASHINGTON - The Intercollegiate Woman's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) ranked the Cardinals 13th in its preseason poll of the nation's top-20 teams, released on Thursday. This marks the second national poll to rank the Cardinals this preseason after Lacrosse Magazine also placed CUA at 13th in the country, back in December.
Last season CUA captured its third consecutive Landmark Conference championship and won a game in the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season. The Cardinals ended their year with 13 wins and 7 losses, advancing to the NCAA Regionals before ultimately falling at Salisbury in a challenging game.
This year, the Cardinals are expected to come in strong with a talented group of underclassmen and the return of accomplished senior Kate Robinson, who was out due to injury last year. Robinson, along with powerhouse players Becky Borrell and Mary Swarthout, prove that this year's team is a force to be reckoned with.
The Cardinals have already begun their season with a busy schedule of practices. The first game is scheduled for March 1st vs. Randolph-Macon at home. The opening draw control is slated for 4 p.m.
