IWLCA honors CUA for fifth straight season with academic award

WASHINGTON – The CUA women's lacrosse team has once again been honored as an IWLCA Academic Squad, it was recently announced.  This marks the fifth straight year in which the Cardinals received this award.  In order to be eligible, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.

During the 2011 season CUA went 15-4 overall and won its fourth consecutive Landmark Conference title, sweeping through the regular season and conference tournament.  The Cardinals also won an NCAA Tournament game for the fourth straight year and they were nationally ranked for the entire season.

CUA ripped off seven straight victories towards the latter part of the season that included the conference tournament and first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Individually, eight Cardinals were named All-Americans, eight received All-Conference recognition and four were honored on the All-Region Teams. Off the field, six CUA student-athletes were named to the IWLCA honor roll.
