Lacrosse Magazine pegs CUA 13th in preseason national poll
WASHINGTON – Lacrosse Magazine has released its
2011 preseason rankings and the CUA women’s lacrosse team
checks in at No. 13 in the national poll. The Cardinals
return a plethora of talent for the upcoming season, including 10
all-conference performers.
Among the players CUA will welcome back in 2011 is Kate Robinson,
who missed nearly all of last season due to injury. Robinson
was an All-American in 2009, giving the Cardinals three on the
current roster (Becky Borrell, Mary Swarthout).
Combined with its talented group of upperclassmen, CUA also
welcomes in a strong contingent of newcomers. The three-time
defending Landmark Conference champions will once again take on a
challenging schedule, chock full of national and regional
powers.
Hamilton earned the top spot in the preseason poll, while
Salisbury, The College of New Jersey, Franklin & Marshall and
Gettysburg round out the top-five. The rankings were compiled
by Lacrosse Magazine staff after consultations with
coaches.
CUA begins its 2011 season in mid-January as the Cardinals get
practice started soon after returning to campus from semester
break. CUA will then take part in a pair of scrimmages in
mid-February with the regular season opener slated for early
March.
