![]() Cardinals Sink Captains in NCAA First Round The Catholic University womens lacrosse team (16-4) continued to make program history Wednesday with an 18-7 victory over the Captains of Christopher Newport (13-6) in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Kate Robinson (Emmitsburg, Md./Catoctin) was named Player of the Week while Melissa Brashear (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) was selected the Defensive Player of the Week. The Cardinals won the conference on Saturday and have received a bid in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. [MORE]

The top-seeded Cardinals defeated second-seeded Goucher College 21-10 (6-10) to take the conference championship.
