Landmark Conference names Mary McGann Off. Player of the Week

WASHINGTON – After helping lead CUA to a pair of wins last week, senior Mary McGann was named the Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.  McGann netted the game-winning goal in the Cardinals' 4-3 win at Juniata on Saturday, and earlier in the week, she handed out two assists in a 10-0 defeat of Trinity.

McGann's heroics against Juniata came in the 82nd minute when she deflected Regina Zolbrod's pass into the back of the net to give the Cards their third straight win.

McGann also assisted on CUA's first two goals against the Eagles, raising her season total to a team-leading five.

In the Cardinals' 10-0 win over Trinity, McGann notched two more assists, setting up CUA's first and sixth goals.

For the season, McGann leads the Cardinals in assists and points, to go along with two goals.

CUA has a big week ahead, hosting conference foes Goucher on Tuesday (4 p.m.) and Scranton on Saturday (1 p.m.).  Saturday's match is also Senior Day.

The Cardinals are currently in fifth place in the league standings at 1-1-1, while Goucher is 2-2-0 and Scranton is 2-0-1.  The top four teams will earn a bid to this year's conference tournament, which gets underway on Wednesday, October 31.
