WASHINGTON – The Catholic University women's soccer team lost 1-0 in overtime to Richard Stockton in the final game of the D.C. Classic on Sunday, Sept. 8 in Washington, D.C.
It was the first time all season that the Cardinals offense was shutout. Prior to today's game, CUA averaged just over three goals per game.
Neither team was able to get much going offensively in the first half, as the Cardinals held a 4-to-3 advantage in shots at halftime. The black and red had a number of dangerous crosses midway through the second half, but was unable to get someone on the other end of those passes.
At the end of regulation neither team had scored, which sent the game into overtime. The third stanza was nearly complete before Adrianna Boucher netted the game-winning goal for Richard Stockton.
Alyssa Fiore (Levittown, N.Y./Division Avenue), Noelle Arcomano (Middletown, N.J./Red Bank Catholic), and Tricia Colucci (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen) represented the Cardinals on the All-Tournament Team.
The Cardinals (3-1) return to action next Thursday, Sept. 12 for a non-conference tilt against Gettysburg (3-0-1) at 4:30p.m. in Washington, D.C.
