WASHINGTON - Junior goalkeeper Christina Peyroux of The Catholic University of America women's soccer team has been recognized by the Landmark Conference as this week's Defensive Athlete of the Week.
With Peyroux in the goal, the Cardinals earned two shutout victories and captured the D.C. Classic crown. Peyroux made four saves against Randolph-Macon on Sunday and saved Guilford's lone shot on Saturday. She played a full 90 minutes against Randolph-Macon to record the win. On Saturday, she played the second half of the Cards game against Guilford, sharing credit for the shutout with senior Ally Marcello.
"Christina had a solid weekend in goal for us in the D.C. Classic games, she made the saves she had to make," said head coach J.P. Sousa. "Christina is beginning to establish herself as a starting goalkeeper, I am excited to watch her continue to grow each week."
Catholic will remain at home, hosting the Stevenson Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13.
