St. Mary's 2, Catholic 1 (OT) Sept. 24, 2002

WASHINGTON - St. Mary's Julie Hill scored her second goal of the game, in the 117th minute of extra time as the Seahawks rallied to defeat Catholic 2-1 in Capital Athletic Conference action.

The first half saw plenty of defensive and physical play where neither team could find the back of the net.

Freshman Laura Kaye (Annandale, Va./Bishop Ireton) gave Catholic (4-2, 1-2 CAC) a 1-0 lead late in the game, as she was able to break the Seahawk defense on a breakaway and score an unassisted goal.

With less than 10 minutes in regulation, St. Mary's (4-1, 1-0 CAC) turned up the offensive pressure, resulting in a key corner kick with just under a minute. The Seahawks' Hill picked up a loose ball in front of the net and was barely able to beat CUA keeper Megan Baroody (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) with just four seconds remaining.

Hill would net the game-winner as her cross from the right side hit a CUA defender and into the net.

Catholic returns to action on Saturday as they play Ursinus in the Outer Banks Tournament.
