Cardinals ousted from tournament by late goal Nov. 3, 2002

YORK, Pa. - One of the most successful seasons in CUA women's soccer came to an end as Catholic fell to York, 2-1, in the first-round of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament.

Catholic, the No. 4 seed, went 12-5 in 2002, setting a school record for most wins in a season. The Cardinals also had a team-high seven-game win streak.

York, the No. 5 seed, took a 1-0 lead in the 15th minute as Jen Siegel found the back of the net with an assist from teammate Ashley Iachini.

Four minutes later, junior Brianne Palmieri (Melville, N.Y./St. Anthony's) tallied her third goal of the year with an assist from senior Colleen Redlinger (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy).

But the Spartan's Katie Frey would put York up for good with her unassisted goal in the 75th minute.

Seniors Rachel Glennon (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland) and Megan Baroody (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) each played a half in goal with Glennon making seven saves and Baroody posting five.
