CUA plays second double overtime of the last two games
WASHINGTON - The Catholic University women's soccer team's (6-1-2, 0-0-1 Landmark) scoring woes continued Saturday afternoon as the Cardinals played to a 0-0 tie against the Juniata College Eagles (6-2-1, 0-1-1 Landmark). The game marked the second tie in a row for CUA which has now played a total of 220 minutes in its last two contests.
On the field, the Cardinals clearly outplayed the Eagles offensively but despite a number of opportunities, couldn't find the back of the net. In both halves CUA had some open looks but many went wide or high. Juniata, on the other hand, had fewer chances but also was unable to score on the open net.
After 110 minutes of play, the game was called a draw. CUA held a 14-7 advantage in shots and both teams took two corner kicks. Tere Rossi (Annandale, Va./Falls Church) had four saves for the Cardinals while Lisa Russo saved four and the Eagle squad assisted with two for a total of six on the afternoon.
The Cards will look for their next win at Shenandoah on Wednesday. The contest is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
