Two late goals lift Women's Soccer to 2-0 win over Scranton
October 12, 2008
WASHINGTON-Tere Rossi (Annandale, Va./Falls Church) made four saves on seven Scranton shots lifting CUA to a 2-0 win over the University of Scranton.
Suzie Peters (Nanuet, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) and Caitline Brett (Mercerville, N.J./Nottingham) both scored goals late in the second half. First Brett scored in the 74th minute then she shared the wealth, feeding Peters at the top of the box. Peters drilled the ball high to the right upper corner past visiting keeper Caitlin Byrne.
Seven Cardinals recorded shots in the contest led by Peters and Kelly Donnely (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) who each took four tries. The Cardinals outshot their opponents 14-7 but surrendered six corner kicks to their five.
CUA returns to action Thursday at the Cardinals welcome Shenandoah to the CUA Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
