Women's Soccer Dominates Trinity, 5-0

October 20, 2008

WASHINGTON-- Outshooting their opponents 25-0 and recording a 5-0 win over Trinity, the Cardinals dominated their non-conference match Monday evening.

Diana Spadaro (Stony Point, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) led the attack with three assists from the bench.  Her strong play allowed Chelsea King (Prospect, Ky./Presentation), Jenna Graham (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) and Susie Peters (Nanuet, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) to all score goals in the second half.

The Cardinals, while dominating in many statistical catigories, attempted to play a possession game and succeeded by controling the ball for much of the game.  Spreading the ball allowed 13 different players to record at least one shot, and nine of them to record at least two shots.  Peters led the way with four shots and one goal.

Defensively for the Cardinals, Amanda Cowan (Middle River, Md./Sparrows Point) and Christina Cassidy (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks West) split time in net, with Cowan taking all 45 minutes in the first half, while Cassidy played the role of closer in the second half.  Combined they touched the ball only one time due to the exceptional effort of the CUA defense and midfield.

CUA will return to action Wednesday, October 22, at 4 p.m. when the Cardinals will welcome the Gophers of Goucher College to the CUA soccer field.
