Women's Soccer Grabs No. 2 Seed with Win Over Susquehanna
November 1, 2008
WASHINGTON--With 16 shots and 14 of them on goal, the CUA women's soccer team managed a 4-0 win over Susquehanna and claimed the second seed in the 2008 Landmark Conference tournament.
Opening the scoring only 15 minutes into the game, Suzie Peters (Nanuet, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) found Elyse Bellardini (Wayne N.J./ Wayne Valley) who found the back of the net. Only seven minutes later the Cardinals would grab another goal, again off the foot of Bellardini.
Caitlin Brett (Mercerville, N.J./Nottingham) did not let the Crusaders off the hook, scoring both in the 31st minute and then again with only second left on the clock in the 90th minute.
12 different Cardinals recorded shots as CUA out shot its opponent 16-4. Only two attempts at net were off the mark making Meredith Tompeck's day in net for the Crusaders extremely busy. Tompeck recorded ten saves, but allowed four goals.
With the No. 2 seed, the Cardinals will host Scranton on Wednesday, Nov. 5th at 2:30 p.m.
